What is the Yukon Citizens’ Assembly ?

A citizens’ assembly is a representative group of citizens who come together to learn about and deliberate on an important issue. A citizens’ assembly provides a facilitated space for thoughtful and informed deliberation. The underlying idea is that ordinary people contribute valuable insights on complex problems when given enough time and information. Citizens’ assemblies have previously been formed to study electoral reform. In Canada, this took place in British Columbia in 2004 and in Ontario in 2007.
